Detailed information on cosmetic packaging

On the boxes and bottles of cosmetics, you often see some information, but most people don’t read it carefully and often ignore it. This information is not printed casually, and each one represents a certain meaning. This information can help you better understand the characteristics of this product.

Identify barcodes

The product barcode is a symbol composed of a set of regularly arranged bars, spaces and their corresponding characters, which is used to represent certain product information. Each number in the barcode has a certain meaning. The general product barcode is generally composed of a prefix part, a manufacturer code, a product code and a check code as shown below:

The prefix code in the product barcode is a code used to identify the country or region, and the coding right belongs to the International Article Numbering Association. The right to assign the manufacturer code belongs to the article coding organization of each country or region. In China, the manufacturer code is assigned by the National Article Coding Center. The product code is a code used to identify the product, and the coding right is exercised by the product manufacturer itself. The product barcode finally uses a 1-bit check code to verify the correctness of the 1st to 12th digital code from the left in the product barcode.

Friends can easily know the actual origin of this product based on the barcode and not be fooled by the merchant.

“e” on cosmetic packaging

In some imported cosmetics, “e” often appears on the outer packaging, such as: 20ml e 0.67 FL OZ, 150ml e. The “e” here means that cosmetics cannot be exactly the same when filling. For example, the weight of an item is marked as 100ml on the packaging, but it may be slightly more or less. Therefore, the ℮ symbol is added to indicate that 100ml is an estimate, not an absolute amount. ℮ represents the first letter of estimate. The standard stipulates that for products with a total nominal weight of less than 50g (ml), the actual error is allowed to be within 9% (including 9%). For products with a total nominal weight of more than 1kg, the actual error is allowed to be within 1.5% (including 1.5%).

The outer packaging of regular cosmetics should be marked with:

1. Health license Weizhuangzhunzi 29 (representing the province)-xk (representing the license)-1679 (representing the batch number)

2. Production license xk16-1083529
