Lipstick tubes are the most complex of all cosmetic packaging materials. Lipstick tubes are composed of multiple components and functional packaging composed of different materials. From the perspective of the material body, they are also divided into volatile and non-volatile types (airtight/non-airtight). In addition, most of the filling is automatically filled by machines (front filling, back filling, direct filling, etc.), including the filling method of lipstick tubes, the combination of different parts, poor tolerance control, or unreasonable design. Even if there is an error in the way the lubricant is applied, it will cause shutdown or abnormal function.

1. Manufacturing process

1. Basic materials
Lipstick tubes are divided into all-plastic lipstick tubes, aluminum-plastic combination tubes, etc. Among them, the commonly used plastic materials are PC, ABS, PMMA, ABS+SAN, SAN, PCTA, PP, etc., and the commonly used aluminum models are 1070, 5657, etc. Some users also use zinc alloy, sheepskin and other materials as lipstick tube accessories in order to show that the product temperament is consistent with its brand tone.
2. Molding process
The plastic material of the lipstick tube is mainly injection molding, such as the cover, base and related accessories in the middle beam core.
3. Surface treatment
There are many treatment processes available for the surface of the lipstick tube. For plastic accessories, spraying, electroplating, evaporation, laser engraving, inserts and other surface treatment processes can be used, while aluminum products can use oxidizable electroplating, anodizing processes, etc.
4. Graphic printing
The cover and base of the lipstick tube can be processed with graphic information on them according to user needs using silk screen printing, hot stamping/silver, pad printing, thermal transfer, water transfer and other processes.

2. Product structure

1. Product classification:
According to the components: cover, bottom, middle bundle core (middle bundle, beads, fork and spiral), etc. Among them, the middle bundle is generally made of aluminum, which has better hardness and metal texture after anodizing. There are also plastic injection molding.
Inner diameter of beads: 8.5mm, 8.6mm, 9mm, 9.8mm, 10mm, 11mm, 11.8mm, 12mm, etc.;
Number of bead ribs: 4 ribs, 6 ribs and 8 ribs, etc.
According to product structure: traditional lipstick shell box, slender type, lipstick/lip gloss box, lip balm, powder strips, lip oil, etc.
Filling method: bottom backfilling, top positive filling

2. Cover
Lipstick tube covers are generally aluminum covers or acrylic covers, ABS covers, etc.

3. Base
The base is generally acrylic or ABS plastic, and there are also aluminum base materials. Some suppliers will add heavy iron to increase the feel, but if there is a problem with the heavy iron glue, it will add a risk to the lipstick tube. In addition, if the vibration during transportation occurs, it will cause a quality accident if the glue is debonded, which will make the customer experience worse.

4. Middle beam core
The middle beam core is the core component of the lipstick tube, which is equivalent to the heart of the product. Whether the lipstick tube product has a good customer experience, the basic functions are all in the experience of the middle beam core. It carries the torque, smoothness, blocking force, insurance force, bead bearing capacity and other functions of the entire lipstick tube product.

The bead fork screw is generally a double helix structure with a long pitch. After one rotation, the bead travels a large distance, so some users also call it a fast screw. The bead fork screw is the core component of the lipstick tube, which is the bead, fork, spiral, bead fork screw and lubricating oil. The bead (cup) is the cup part that directly contacts the lipstick body. The fork (fork) is the track of the bead in the straight direction. The spiral (Spiral) is the track of the bead in the spiral ascending direction. It cooperates with the fork to achieve the purpose of the rotation process and the upward movement of the bead.

The bead fork screw is a bit like a pump core, but it is more complicated than the pump core. Some manufacturers also say that the lubricating oil-free bead fork screw design, but it is not widely used at present. The standardized drawings of the bead fork screw must be standardized, otherwise, the size can not be grasped accurately. After assembly, there are more complex factors. The result can be predicted. The injection molding material must pass the material compatibility verification, otherwise there will be compatibility problems. It is not good to screw up and down. The bead fork screw is the top priority.

3. Cosmetic Application

Lipstick tubes, as the name implies, are used in lipstick and lip gloss products. However, with the rise of lipstick products such as lip sticks, lip gloss, and lip glaze, many packaging material factories have made fine adjustments to the packaging material structure of lipstick tubes, forming a full range of applications.
