What is the approval number for cosmetics? Check the approval number when buying cosmetics

When buying skin care products or cosmetics, you can see the approval number on the back of the bottle. It is a string of numbers. So what is the approval number of cosmetics?

Special cosmetics need to apply for an approval number. The Cosmetics Hygiene Supervision Regulations divide cosmetics into: special-purpose cosmetics and non-special-purpose cosmetics; special-purpose cosmetics refer to cosmetics used for hair growth, hair dyeing, perming, hair removal, breast enhancement, bodybuilding, deodorization, freckle removal, and sun protection. Special-purpose cosmetics must be approved by the State Food and Drug Administration and can only be produced and imported after obtaining the approval number; the approval number is divided into Wei Ru Zhun Zi, Wei Ru Te Zi, Wei Ru Bei Jin Zi, and Wei Ru Te Jin Zi, which are mainly the state’s licenses for the production of cosmetics and special cosmetics.

The cosmetics approval number is the state’s license for the production of cosmetics and special cosmetics. The state currently adopts an access system for the production of cosmetics. Only enterprises with a cosmetics production license can produce cosmetics and obtain an approval number.

Check the approval number when buying cosmetics

At present, all kinds of cosmetics are in hot demand. Recently, the staff of the Municipal Health Supervision Institute secretly visited some large shopping malls, supermarkets and department stores in the city and conducted surprise inspections on the hygiene quality and packaging labels of cosmetic products. After testing, the hygiene indicators of the 50 products with approval numbers were all qualified.

The health supervision department reminds consumers that they must check the approval number when purchasing cosmetics, especially when purchasing special cosmetics with functions such as hair growth, hair dyeing, perming, hair removal, breast enhancement, deodorization, sun protection, and freckle removal. Pay attention to whether the approval number of special cosmetics is marked on the packaging, such as “Weizhuangtezi [Year of Issuance] No. xxx”. When purchasing imported cosmetics, check whether it is marked with “Weizhuangjin (Bei)zi [Year of Issuance] No. xxx” or “Guoshiyaojin (Bei)zi [Year of Issuance] No. xxx”. Those without approval numbers are all counterfeit and inferior products, so don’t buy them.
